Kardel

Kardel Consulting Services Inc (now known as "Kardel") was born in 1987, during the early days of institutional closures. There was no grand vision, only a desire to participate in the development of community-based services for people with developmental disabilities. At the time that I committed to leaving my position in the Glendale Psychology Department, I had the very good fortune of hiring Karen Van Rheenen to work with me on Kardel's first service contract, a consultative service known as the Community Support Team. Since our beginning, we have been committed to person-centred supports that respect individual choice.

Kardel's services have gradually diversified, an evolution made possible by the hard work, dedication, and creativity of many wonderful people. Over the years Kardel representatives have also been active in many collaborative roles beyond their responsibilities within the agency, supporting more broadly the interest of community living in B.C.

Kardel is a CARF-accredited agency providing residential, day service, respite, home-share and other individualized supports through Host Agency Agreements. The desire to participate in the development of individualized community-based services is as vital today as it was when Kardel began.
